The Industrial Machine Technology program provides you with the skills necessary to manufacture precision parts for industry worldwide. The course offers training in the machine tool trades, particularly that of machinist, which is a highly skilled occupation. Industrial Machine Technology is an excellent base for engineering skills in post secondary education. There are agreements in place with some two-year colleges. Instruction involves a progression from blueprint reading to the operation of computer numerical controlled machines (CNC). The course emphasizes computations relating to work dimensions, bench work-utilizing hand tools, and the use and care of precision measuring instruments. Also included is the operation of machine tools such as lathes, milling machines, drill presses, grinders, and computer controlled machines. A prerequisite would be to have average math skills (algebra preferred).
